
I began "Sister Cycle" in 2010 to explore one of my most significant relationships. I saw the way that I related to my sister was a model for many of my female friendships. I feel that this piece is begging for a fourth section - as my relationship with my sister continues, there will always be a new stage to unpack.

"Pageant" was created specifically to combine students from the dance and musical theater programs at Penn State Altoona. The range of skill and experience is huge, with musical theater students providing great characterization and the dancers taking the hard bits.

"Third Wave" came to me as I got to know a very special group of millennial dancers. As a die-hard feminist, I wanted to understand how their vision of "girl power" related to my skepticism about choice-based (and sometimes consumerist) feminism.

Though I love a good narrative, my large scale projects are almost all formalist in nature. "Sketches" is a piece that I have revisited many times with different companies. I always find it interesting to explore visual edges, play with 2- and 3-dimensional pictures, and experiment with massed bodies.
